Wireless Printer Setup Instructions

The computer you use must be connected to SFA-WIRELESS, eduroam or the wired network on the SFA Campus.

Instructions for a Windows computer:

1. Connect the printer to the SFA-PRINTERS network. When prompted for a password enter "golumberjacks".

2. Find the IP address of the printer. It should be 172.23.*.*, where the asterisks denote the unique part of the IP address. This information can usually be located within the printer menus (again, this process varies). Some printers will print a network status page upon connecting to a network, which should contain the IP address.

3. Next to the Start button should be a search box or magnifying glass icon. Click on/in that and type "Add a Printer".

4. The first result should say "Add a printer or scanner". Click that.

5. Click the “+ Add a printer or scanner” button near the top of the window. Windows will begin looking for printers on the network.

6. Scroll to the bottom of the list (may be quite a large list depending on location). Note that this is not the bottom of the page, so if you see "Download over metered connections" you've scrolled too far; scroll up a bit and you should see the end of the list.

7. Click "The printer that I want isn't listed". This opens a small window with multiple options.

8. Select "Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname" and click Next.

9. Type the IP address in the "Hostname or IP address" box and select Next.

10. Windows may then prompt you for drivers, which may already be installed.

Instructions for a Mac OS computer:

3. Click on the Apple menu in the top left corner of the screen and select “System Preferences.”

4. Select Printers and Scanners

5. Click the “+” sign in the lower right of the window.

6. Click the globe icon at the top-center (or “IP” in the upper-left) of the new window.

7. Type the IP address in the box next to “Address,” making sure the type selected from the drop-down box is “Internet Printing Protocol" or "IPP”

8. Click Add. Your computer should automatically retrieve drivers for your printer, and its icon should look like your printer when you automatically return to the list of available printers.

After following these instructions, your printer should now print from this computer when this computer is connected to SFA-WIRELESS or eduroam. Repeat this process for any other computers you wish to print from using this printer.
