General Information

VDI access from off-campus requires an active connection using SFA's VPN. Instructions for downloading, installing, and connecting the VPN client can be found here.

 

Horizon Client (recommended for best experience)

  • Horizon Client must be installed on your computer
  • Allows access to local USB devices
  • Works on iOS and Android devices (separate documentation linked)

HTML Access (recommend for quick access)

  • Fast access into the system (skip to step 5)
  • No access to local USB devices

 

Installing the VMWare Horizon Client

  1. Go to https://view.sfasu.edu

  2. Click Install VMWare Horizon Client

 

  1. Choose the Install VMware Horizon Client link.

  2. Locate your Operating System (Windows and Mac are the most common), then click GO TO DOWNLOADS next to the appropriate Operating System

 

  1. Click DOWNLOAD NOW

 

  1. Once the download is complete, open the download in your browser

 

  1. Click Yes in the pop-up dialog box to allow the app to make changes to your device

 

  1. Click Agree & Install

 

  1. Click Finish once the installation is complete

 

  1. Click Restart Now

 

  1. In the Windows menu, or on the desktop, locate and click the VMWare Horizon Client icon to open the application

 

  1. Click Add Server

 

  1. In the Name of the Connection Server box, enter https://view.sfasu.edu, then click Connect

 

  1. Click Accept

 

  1. Enter your mySFA credentials, then click Login

 

  1. Approve the Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your device to successfully login to VMWare Horizon Client

  2. Select Public on the VDI Desktop selection screen

 

  1. Once logged in you are presented with a desktop that includes all software that is available from SFASU standard deployment.
    • Any additional software needed will need to be evaluated by ITS before being added and can be requested through a faculty member.

 

Accessing VMWare Horizon via HTML

  1. Go to https://view.sfasu.edu

  2. Click VMWare Horizon HTML Access

 

  1. Click Accept in the pop-up dialog box

 

  1. Enter your mySFA credentials and click Login

 

  1. Approve the Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your device to successfully login to VMWare Horizon Client

  2. Select Public on the VDI Desktop selection screen

 

  1. Once logged in you are presented with a desktop that includes all software that is available from SFASU standard deployment.
