Quick Overview
  • Add a new phone or security key to Duo
  • Manage existing Duo authentication devices
  • Remove devices you no longer use
  • Know when to contact the IT Help Desk

If you get a new phone, replace a device, or need to manage your Duo authentication methods, you can update your devices using Duo self-service options.

Most users manage devices through the Duo Prompt when signing in to an SFA application. Some changes may require assistance from the IT Help Desk.

Add a New Device

You can add a new device when signing in to an SFA application protected by Duo.

  1. Sign in to an SFA application using your username and password.
  2. At the Duo Prompt, select Other Options.
  3. Select Manage devices.
  4. Complete authentication using an existing approved method.
  5. Choose Add a device and follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip
If you are adding a new phone, install the Duo Mobile app before starting the enrollment process.

Supported Device Types

  • Smartphones using the Duo Mobile app
  • Duo hardware tokens issued by SFA
  • User-owned security keys such as YubiKeys

Manage Existing Devices

From the device management screen, you can review your enrolled devices and make updates.

  • Rename devices to help identify them
  • Set a default device for authentication
  • Remove devices you no longer use

Remove a Device

If you no longer use a device, you should remove it from Duo to keep your account secure.

  1. Open the Duo device management screen.
  2. Select the device you want to remove.
  3. Confirm the removal.
Important
Do not remove your last remaining authentication device unless you have already added a replacement. Removing all devices will prevent you from signing in.

When to Contact the IT Help Desk

  • You no longer have access to any enrolled devices
  • Your device was lost or stolen
  • You cannot complete device management due to authentication restrictions
