Employees: This article details steps for installing and configuring the VDI VMware Horizon Client.

General Information

VDI access from off-campus requires an active connection using SFA's VPN.

• Instructions for downloading, installing, and connecting the VPN client can be found here.

 

Installing the VMWare Horizon Client (Recommended)

1. Go to https://view.sfasu.edu

2. Click Install VMWare Horizon Client

 

3. Choose the Install VMware Horizon Client link.

4. Locate your Operating System (Windows and Mac are the most common), then click GO TO DOWNLOADS next to the appropriate Operating System

 

5. Click DOWNLOAD NOW

 

6. Once the download is complete, open the download in your browser

 

7. Click Yes in the pop-up dialog box to allow the app to make changes to your device

 

8. Click Agree & Install

 

9. Click Finish once the installation is complete

 

10. Click Restart Now

 

11. In the Windows menu, or on the desktop, locate and click the VMWare Horizon Client icon to open the application

 

12. Click Add Server

 

13. In the Name of the Connection Server box, enter https://view.sfasu.edu, then click Connect

 

14. Click Accept

 

15. Enter your mySFA credentials, then click Login

 

16. Approve the Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your device to successfully login to VMWare Horizon Client

17. Select Admin on the VDI Desktop selection screen

    • all SFA employees (faculty/staff) should select Admin

 

18. Once logged in, you are presented with a desktop that includes all software that is available from SFASU standard deployment.
    • Any additional software will need to be evaluated by ITS before being added and can be requested through a VDI Support Request.

 

Accessing VMWare Horizon via HTML

1. Go to https://view.sfasu.edu

2. Click VMWare Horizon HTML Access

 

3. Click Accept in the pop-up dialog box

 

4. Enter your mySFA credentials and click Login

 

5. Approve the Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your device to successfully login to VMWare Horizon Client

6. Select Admin on the VDI Desktop selection screen

   • all SFA employees (faculty/staff) should select Admin

 

7. Once logged in, you are presented with a desktop that includes all software that is available from SFASU standard deployment.
   • Any additional software will need to be evaluated by ITS before being added and can be requested through a VDI Support Request.
