Setting Up Your 1Password Account
Quick Overview
- Walks you through activating your SFA 1Password account from your invitation email.
- Applies to all Faculty and Staff who received a 1Password invite.
- SFA uses single sign-on through SFACAS, so you'll sign in with your normal SFA username and password. There's no separate account password, Secret Key, or Emergency Kit to create or store.
Because SFA uses single sign-on through SFACAS, your 1Password account is unlocked with the same credentials you already use to sign in to other university systems. You won't need to create a separate 1Password account password, and there's no Secret Key or Emergency Kit to keep track of.
Steps
- Open the invitation email from 1Password (sent to your SFA email address) and select the link to join the SFA team, or go directly to sfasu.1password.com.
- If prompted, install the 1Password app or browser extension for your device.
- On the "Sign in to 1Password" screen, enter your SFA email address and select Continue (see Screenshot 1 below).
- 1Password will recognize SFA's sign-in method. Confirm your email address is correct, then select Sign in with SFACAS (see Screenshot 2 below).
- You'll be taken to the standard SFA sign-in page. Enter your mySFA username and password and select Login (see Screenshot 3 below).
- Approve any notification prompt on your device to finish linking it to your account.
- Continue to Installing the Browser Extension & Turning On Autofill to start saving and filling passwords automatically.

Important
Your SFA email address must match between SFACAS and your 1Password invitation, or sign-in will fail. Since account recovery for SFACAS/SSO users requires a 1Password administrator, contact the IT Help Desk right away if you ever get locked out. Self-service recovery options like an Emergency Kit don't apply to these accounts.
