VPN for Smartphones (GlobalProtect)

Quick Overview
  • These instructions are for setting up the SFA VPN (GlobalProtect) on iOS or Android.
  • VPN access is currently available for SFA employees only.
  • You must have Duo Mobile installed and enrolled before connecting.
  • The GlobalProtect portal address is vpn.sfasu.edu.

Important
The SFA VPN (GlobalProtect) is available for Faculty, Staff, and Students. Use VPN only when you need access to SFA systems or resources that are restricted to on-campus networks.

Before You Begin
You must have Duo Mobile installed and configured before using the SFA VPN. View Duo Mobile setup instructions.

Step 1: Install the GlobalProtect App

Step 2: Enter the Portal Address

  1. Open the GlobalProtect app.
  2. When prompted for the Portal Address, enter:
    vpn.sfasu.edu
  3. Tap Connect.

Step 3: Sign In with mySFA Credentials

  1. Enter your mySFA username and password.
  2. Tap Complete Form to Sign In.

Step 4: Approve Duo Authentication

  1. Approve the Duo notification on your phone to complete sign-in.
Best Practice
Only connect to the SFA VPN when you need access to SFA systems that are restricted to on-campus networks. Disconnect when you are finished.

Connecting and Disconnecting

  • To connect: open GlobalProtect and tap the gray shield, then approve the Duo request.
  • To disconnect: open GlobalProtect and tap the green shield.
