Which Versions of iOS Does Duo Mobile Support?

Duo Mobile is the app used for Duo Verified Push and generating passcodes. To remain secure and compatible with Stephen F. Austin State University systems, Duo Mobile must run on a supported version of iOS.

Duo recommends upgrading to the most recent version of iOS available for your device whenever possible.

Supported iOS Versions

Minimum supported iOS version: iOS 17 or newer

Devices running older versions of iOS may not be able to install the latest Duo Mobile updates and may not receive troubleshooting support, maintenance fixes, or security updates.

Not Supported
Duo Mobile is not supported on preview or beta versions of iOS. Functionality cannot be guaranteed on devices running pre-release software provided by Apple.

Older iOS Versions

Devices running unsupported versions of iOS may continue to function for Duo authentication if Duo Mobile is already installed, but these devices no longer receive security updates or bug fixes.

While Duo authentication may continue to work on older versions, running Duo Mobile on a supported version of iOS is strongly recommended to maintain a secure authentication experience.

How to Check Your iOS Version

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select About and view the iOS Version.

How to Check Your Duo Mobile App Version

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap Duo Mobile.
  3. View the installed app version.

If You Cannot Upgrade Your iOS Device

If your device cannot be upgraded to a supported version of iOS, you may not be able to use the latest Duo Mobile features or updates.

If you cannot use Duo Mobile, contact the IT Help Desk to discuss available alternatives, including a Duo hardware token when eligible.
