The ITS Information Security Office has been notified of an ongoing smishing campaign targeting employees across the UT System. These fraudulent text messages claim to provide updates about employee compensation and impersonate the UT System Office of Employee Benefits (OEB).
The messages include a link that leads to a malicious website designed to collect personal information such as login credentials or other sensitive data.
What the Scam Message May Look Like
These messages may appear legitimate and may include:
- Your first name in the message.
- A reference to 2026 compensation updates.
- A sender that appears to reference benefits@utsystem.edu.
- A link asking you to review compensation information.
