Information Technology Services (ITS) is in the final phases of the residential wireless upgrade project. Beginning Monday, February 6, 2023, ITS staff will be on site replacing network equipment in the residence halls throughout the remainder of the semester. You may experience intermittent wireless interruptions during this time period.
This article will be updated with progress reports as the work is completed.
Residence Life and Help Desk Staff will be aware of the project schedule and order, but if you experience any extended outages, please email or call the Help Desk at helpdesk@sfasu.edu or 936-468-4357.
Update, February 9 - Wireless upgrades for Lodge are now complete. We are beginning work on Kerr Hall.
Update, February 13 - Wireless upgrades for Kerr are now complete. We are beginning work on Griffith Hall.
Update, February 14 - Wireless upgrades for Griffith Hall are now complete. We are beginning work on Village 3.
Update, February 15 - Wireless upgrades for Village 3 are now complete. We are beginning work on Village 2.
Update, February 16 - Wireless upgrades for Village 2 are now complete. We are beginning work on Village 1.
Update, February 16 - Wireless upgrades for Village 1 are now complete. We are beginning work on Lumberjack Landing.
Update, March 6 - Wireless upgrades are temporarily on hold as we are waiting on additional fiber optic cabling to be delivered to campus.
Update, April 3 - We are still waiting on the arrival of additional fiber optic cabling.

Update, April 28 - New 30 gigabyte fiber optic runs to Griffith and Kerr Halls are complete.

New fiber, switches and access points installed at Wisely. Access point count increased from 47 to 51.
New fiber, switches and access points installed in Steen Hall. Access point count increased from 47 to 379.
New fiber, switches and access points installed in Hall 14. Access point count increased from 62 to 216.
New fiber, switches and access points installed in Hall 20. Access point count increased from 99 to 197.
Work continues at the other Halls and updates will be posted as the work is completed.
