Proofpoint Email Protection for Students

SFA Information Technology Services is pleased to announce that we are enhancing security for all SFA student email accounts.  Beginning October 26, all incoming emails to students will be routed through Proofpoint Email Protection.

Proofpoint is a program that scans incoming emails, identifies, and quarantines malicious emails such as spam, phishing and malware, to prevent them from reaching student inboxes. Additionally, emails received from a non-SFA email address will display a message at the top stating “This Message is From an External Sender” as a reminder to be careful before clicking on links.

If Proofpoint DOES quarantine an email within the past 24 hours, you will receive an End User Digest to your inbox that lists the emails determined to be potentially harmful. Upon reviewing your End User Digest, you have the option to release the email, allow the sender, block the sender, delete the email, or mark the email as safe.

If Proofpoint does NOT quarantine an email within the past 24 hours, you will not receive an End User Digest. Between receiving End User Digests, you may refer to your most recent digest to manage your settings or review previously quarantined emails.

Additional information, including screen captures, can be found here.
